How to play

  1. Pick the rules, Classic or International, then an online opponent, a friend or the computer.
  2. Your fleet is already deployed on the 10×10 sector: drag a ship if you like, tap it to rotate or press Shuffle, then To battle!
  3. On your turn, tap a cell once to fire. Keep your finger down and slide, and a big reticle moves from cell to cell, firing on release; release off the board to cancel. On desktop click with the mouse or use the arrow keys and Enter.
  4. Whoever sinks the entire enemy fleet first wins.

Three kinds of opponent

  • Online: quick match runs a separate queue for each rule set. Everyone starts at 1200 Elo; the rating moves fast in the first 20 games (K = 40), then slower (K = 20).
  • With a friend: a 4-character code or a link. The rating is not affected. Details.
  • Computer: Sailor, Captain, Admiral. The game is saved in your browser and keeps going even offline. Details.

If nobody is in the queue, the game says so plainly and offers the computer. A bot is never shown as a human.

Why it cannot be cheated

The server is the referee. Enemy ship positions are never sent to your device: until a ship sinks you only receive miss, hit or sunk. The whole fleet is revealed only at the end. An automatic test that scans every message checks this.

Time and disconnections

  • 90 seconds to deploy, then the fleet is placed automatically.
  • 30 seconds per shot. Miss the time and the turn passes; three times in a row is a defeat.
  • If your connection drops you have 45 seconds to return and continue from the same spot. Reloading the page does not break the game.
