How to aim a bow

The bow is sighted for the distance, so your real opponents are the wind and your own hand.

Correcting for wind

A crosswind pushes the arrow, more so at longer range: 4 m/s moves it about 13 cm at 30 m, 54 cm at 60 m and 1.2 m at 90 m. Sight ticks are 25 cm apart at the target, so with wind to the right aim that many ticks left.

Hand sway

The sight always drifts a little. Sway is small for the first 4 seconds and then grows, so aim quickly and release as the drift passes the centre.

Moving targets

From stage 25 the target moves sideways. The arrow takes 0.5–1.4 seconds to arrive, so lead the target.

FAQ

Why did the arrow miss my sight?

The wind moved it or your hand swayed at release. With no wind the arrow lands exactly on the sight.
