Rest: how to play the Tashkent driving game

Rest is an open-city driving game built on the real map of Tashkent. You can cruise the streets with other players, get out and walk, borrow any car from a car lot, or race on eight tracks with bots and friends. This guide explains how it all works.

Driving through Tashkent in Rest

Two kinds of room

🏙 Toshkent ko‘chalari (“Tashkent streets”) is the permanent free-roam room. You can join at any moment and are on the road straight away. The whole city sits on one map built from OpenStreetMap data, about 24,000 streets, 300,000 buildings and 3,800 traffic lights, and the game loads the area within a kilometre around you as you drive. Traffic lights change from red to yellow to green, the traffic stops on red, and a minimap follows you around.

🏁 Race rooms each run their own races. In the lobby you choose the track, the mode (race, a three-minute battle, time trial or drift points), 1 to 5 laps, up to six bots on easy, normal or hard, and the weather: clear, rain, fog, night or a day-to-night transition. A championship strings three tracks together with points for every position: 10, 8, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1. Each track keeps its five fastest races and best lap. The track list describes all eight, from the icy “Snake” to a mountain pass with a 54 m drop.

On foot, at the car lot and as a passenger

  • In the free-roam room you start on foot at the Abozor car lot, where every car in the game is parked. Walk up to any of them and press G to drive away.
  • Press G again to get out and walk: W and S to move, A and D to turn, Shift to run. The car stays where you left it, and anyone may take it; after ten minutes without a driver it goes back to the lot.
  • Walk up to another player’s car and press G to ride along as a passenger, two people in one car.
  • Press J to call your friends: everyone in the room sees a 📍 on the map, the distance and direction at the top of the screen, and a red beam of light above you in the city.
  • Lost? R puts your car back on the road; on foot it takes you back to the car lot.

A gamepad works too. On a phone, hold it sideways: steer with ◀ ▶ at the bottom left (or slide your finger), with the GAZ (throttle) and TORMOZ (brake) buttons at the bottom right. Auto-throttle is on by default, so the car drives forward and you only steer and brake; switch it off in the ☰ menu. Buttons above give you nitro, the weapon, drift, the rear view, the autopilot and getting out of the car.

Cars, coins and tuning

All 45 cars are available from the start: the Nexia, Cobalt, Damas and Matiz you see on Tashkent roads, BYD electric cars, a whole range of BMWs, and a Ferrari 458, Lamborghini Urus and two Porsche 911s. Pick one and its colour in the 🚗 Garage. Every car keeps its real top speed; the car list has the numbers.

Coins come from races, achievements and a daily gift of 100, and they only buy tuning: engine (acceleration), longer-lasting nitro, grip and armour. Nothing in Rest is sold for real money. Nitro itself is not bought either: you fill it from blue balloons and gift boxes on the road, and it adds 40 km/h until it runs out.

Race tips

  • Press the throttle a moment before “Olg‘a!” (Go!) for a perfect start.
  • Blue arrows on the road give a speed boost, yellow ramps make you jump, and orange barriers slide across the road: time your pass.
  • In battle mode, gift boxes hold a rocket, a mine, a shock wave, lightning, a shield or nitro. Hits wear down your health; at zero the car explodes and comes back two seconds later.
  • After crossing the line, use ← and → to watch the others finish, and open the replay of the last race from the lobby.

Phones, computers and loading

Rest is the heaviest game on GameUZB: on the first visit it downloads the city around you and the car models, so give it a moment on mobile data. After that the browser keeps them. On weaker phones the graphics quality lowers itself, and you can set it by hand in ⚙ Settings. The menus and hints are in Uzbek, which is why this page lists the keys. For the full Uzbek driving test, use the separate driving test simulator.

FAQ

Is Rest free?

Yes. Every car, track and mode is free, there is no account and nothing is sold for real money. Coins earned in races only buy tuning.

Is it really Tashkent?

The map is built from OpenStreetMap data, so the streets, bridges, buildings and metro are where they are in the real city, in simplified 3D. You can drive from Chorsu to Yunusobod or around Amir Temur Square.

Can I drive with my friends?

Yes. Everyone in the free-roam room shares one city; press J to show friends where you are, or ride in a friend’s car as a passenger. For racing, create a room and send the link.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in the browser. Turn the phone sideways; auto-throttle makes it easy to drive with one thumb.

What language is the game in?

The menus are in Uzbek (Latin script). The controls are the usual ones, listed on this page.
