Driving test simulator

Avtodrom is a free 3D simulator of the practical driving-ground test in Uzbekistan. It will not replace lessons in a real car, but it does teach what trips up most candidates: the route, the order of the 15 exercises and the small procedures that cost points.

A Chevrolet Cobalt on the driving ground in the Avtodrom simulator

What the simulator reproduces

  • The ground. About 160 × 82 m, laid out from the standard Uzbek driving-ground plan: roads, islands, zebra crossings, the T-shaped turning lane, parking bays, traffic lights and signs where they stand on the real ground.
  • The exercises and their order. The list follows Interior Ministry order No. 27 of 18 January 2024 and the sequence follows the Tashkent exam centre: start, pedestrian crossing, hill start, 90° turns, four junctions, slalom, box turnaround, railway crossing, acceleration lane, emergency stop, parallel parking and finish. Each one is explained on the exercises page.
  • The rules of a run. A 20 km/h limit with a 5 km/h tolerance, 40 km/h allowed in the acceleration lane, 25 minutes for the whole route, two minutes for the hill and three each for the box and the parking bay.
  • The scoring. A 100-point mistake stops the exam on the spot, and a total of 99 points or less is a pass. We could not find an official points table, so the simulator uses values close to a public list, from 5 to 100 points (full table).
  • The car. An automatic Chevrolet Cobalt (P, R, N, D) built from a real 3D model, with working indicators, brake lights and hazard lights.

Exam mode and practice mode

Two buttons in the menu matter. Imtihonni boshlash (“start the exam”) runs all 15 stages from the start line with the clock going, and a 100-point mistake ends the run, exactly as on the real ground. Mashq qilish (“practise”) lets you choose any stage from the list and begin right there. A practice run does not stop on mistakes, but the penalty points still appear, so you can repeat the hill start or the parking bay twenty times in a row until it is clean.

Treat practice like a driving instructor would: one exercise, repeated until you get zero points three times in a row, then move on.

A plan in four sessions

  1. Controls and procedures. Learn the start routine until you do it without thinking: seat belt (B), engine (K), D (F), left indicator (Q), release the handbrake (Space), then move off within 30 seconds. Learn the finish too: right indicator, stop after the FINISH line, P and handbrake. Forgetting the belt, the indicator or the handbrake costs 5 points each, every single time.
  2. Stopping precisely. Pedestrian crossing, hill start, railway crossing and emergency stop are all about where the car stops. Stop no more than 2 m before a stop line (further away costs 10, on the line 20); on the hill, roll back no more than 0.3 m (25); at the emergency signal, stop within 10 m (25) and switch on the hazard lights within 2 seconds (20).
  3. Reversing. The box turnaround and parallel parking are where lines get touched. Start with the top-down camera to see the geometry, then switch to the driver’s seat view (C) and hold X to look back. Aim to finish each one well inside its three minutes.
  4. Full runs. Run the whole exam until you pass it three times in a row with no points at all, then try to finish in under 15 minutes so the 25-minute limit never worries you.

Where the points go

StageThe usual mistakePoints
Anywherea wheel off the road, a red light, leaving the route, running out of the 25 minutes100
Pedestrian crossingmoving before the pedestrian has crossed100
Railway crossingno complete stop before the STOP line100
Slalom, box, parking, 90° turnstouching a boundary line25
Hill startrolling back more than 0.3 m25
Anywherereversing outside an exercise25
Junctionscrossing on yellow20
Acceleration lanenot reaching 30 km/h20
Anywherespeeding over 20 km/h (plus the tolerance)10

The line touch is the one that quietly adds up: four touches are already 100 points. That is why the plan above spends a whole session on the reversing exercises.

Keyboard, phone and cameras

On a computer: W or ↑ accelerates (hold Shift to creep), S or ↓ brakes, A/D or ←/→ steer, Space is the handbrake, P R N F select the gear, Q and E are the indicators, H the hazard lights, C changes the camera and holding X looks back. M or Esc opens the map and menu.

On a phone, hold it sideways: the on-screen buttons cover every control, labelled in Uzbek: Kamar (seat belt), Kalit (ignition key), Uzatma (gear), Ko‘rs. (indicator), Qo‘l t. (handbrake), Kamera, Tormoz (brake) and Gaz (throttle). The whole simulator runs in the browser with nothing to install.

What a simulator cannot teach

  • A clutch. The simulator’s Cobalt is automatic; if your test car is manual, the clutch is your instructor’s job.
  • The feel of a real car: where its corners are, how it rolls on a slope, what the mirrors show.
  • Nerves, and the examiner sitting next to you.
  • Small differences between exam grounds. The layout follows the standard plan, but check your own exam centre.

Used for what it is good at, the route, the order and the procedures, it lets you spend your paid driving lessons on steering rather than on remembering what comes next.

Category A: the motorcycle course

A separate course reproduces the motorcycle test: 12 exercises in 10 minutes, from the start with a helmet (B), engine (K) and first gear (1), through the slalom, the narrow lane, acceleration to 20 km/h, the STOP zone and a very slow lane that must take at least 8 seconds, to the figure eight and the finish. Leaving the lane or stalling the engine is 100 points, putting a foot down 20. All of it is on the motorcycle exercises page.

FAQ

Is this the official exam?

No. It is an independent training game. The exercises and their order follow the official list, but the points are an approximation and a pass in the simulator means nothing for your licence.

Is there a manual gearbox?

Not for cars: the Cobalt is automatic (P, R, N, D). The motorcycle course does use gears: first to start, second for the acceleration lane, neutral at the finish.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes, in the browser. Turn the phone sideways; the on-screen buttons include the seat belt, indicators and hazard lights.

The menus are in Uzbek. What do the main words mean?

Imtihonni boshlash: start the exam. Mashq qilish: practise one exercise. Davom etish: continue. Jarima: penalty points. Qayta urinish: try again. Qoidalar va boshqaruv: rules and controls.

Is it free?

Yes. No download, no account and nothing to buy.
